L.U.S.T. UPDATE: CITY OF LEEDS UNITED
Sunday, July 1, 2012 at 12:47PM After L.U.S.T. chairman Gary Cooper's call at our public meeting for the club to release an update to its fans, we were delighted when Leeds United confirmed on Tuesday that it has entered into a period of exclusivity with an investor, and that due diligence is currently underway. We would like to thank the club for sharing this news with supporters who have been desperate for information throughout this process. We hope that with negotiations at an advanced stage more positive news will come soon from the club.
At an important time not just for Leeds United but, by extension, for the city of Leeds as a whole, we were also pleased to hear from the Leader of Leeds City Council, Keith Wakefield, who tweeted this week:
"Encouraging news coming out of Elland Road, hopefully the club will soon get the investment it needs and deserves ... Think @lufctrust deserve great credit for how they've conducted themselves re takeover. Hope new owners have fan representation on Board."
Our Vision Statement emphasises how important it is that Leeds United builds good relationships within the city it represents. A successful Leeds United would be a great advert and a morale boost for our city, and could create big benefits for local businesses and local people. Leeds United's statements on the current negotiations have emphasised that they will find the best deal possible for the long term future of the club, and a many Leeds companies rely on the football club for a large part of their business, we hope that they can share in that future. Councillor Wakefield's support helps us to work towards our ambition of bringing the football club, the council, the fans and the city all much closer together.
L.U.S.T. are hopeful that we will all soon hear positive news from Elland Road, and that we can look forward to the fans, the city, and local businesses enjoying a mutually beneficial relationship with Leeds United.

Great news, LUST is making significant strides towards a brighter LUFC future whilst mending bridges along the way! It's important to have a strong relationship with the Council (can we ask them for the ground back now), just the police, broadcasters to get back onside. Let's get this deal signed (the parasite out - sorry had to say it) and focus on building a team and club for all the Leeds United fans.
Whoever the successful bidder his ,i think caution should be used and commonsense should be used on the growth of our club. In my eyes we don't want to be another Men City has many supporter are hoping for look how long it took them to sort themselves out into a team of sorts.when all they have is a team full of egos and unconcerned players for the club.
In short it would be far better to get good players, players who want to play for Leeds Utd (there will be plenty, when Mr Bates goes) and to build again a club filled with pride and true achievement.... And to say again 'THIS IS OUR CLUB'.
Howard Swindwlls
good.
p.s. eggybread
how naive Howard...
to poster one, Leeds Council haven't owned the ground for years. The club sold the ground to a Jacob Adler in 2004. He has subsequently sold it on to an unamed person/company in an offshore tax haven (bates anyone?) It would probably have been a lot simpler if the Council did own it!!
To LUST, keep up the very good work guys, well done, from the vast majority of Leeds United fans.
would you like a jam sandwich good sir
